In the early morning hours of August 11, 2004 an innocent 9 year old boy was killed by a drive by shooting in South Oklahoma City.

The little boys name was David Pekah.

Prior to his death, David signed a petition with 447 other children from his neighborhood asking to be rescued from gang violenceHundreds of children are still at risk.

The Boys and Girls Club of America is the most successful institution in the nation at teaching children and youth how to get along in diverse groups.  This understanding is key to ending gang violence and inner-city poverty.

The Buffalo Trust is working with Oklahoma County Boys and Girls Club, Inc. and other civic organizations to establish The First Peoples Boys and Girls Club at 36th and Robinson in Oklahoma City.  We are also working to establish other locations for Boys and Girls Clubs in inner-city and tribal communities. We are building a youth camp and cooperating with local animal shelters on a new kind of stewardship training as well.
